The 22C prefix was used by the Air Ministry on most items of flying clothing under the title of 'Clothing and Accoutrements'. Consequently a list of the various prefixes, spanning from the 1920s well into the 1960s, is a useful tool for the diligent collector. 

 

Gerry over at RAF Flying Clothing & Equipment 1939-1945 (flyingclothing.co.uk) has put considerable time and effort in to compiling the most extensive version of the 22C Stores Reference Number list that I have come across. This is a fantastic resource for collectors and is important for tracing the origins of rare items of flying clothing or for confirming originality.
