RAF TYPE D OXYGEN MASK - SEFTON CLOTHING CO REPRODUCTION
SOLD
For sale is a lovely example of a museum-grade reproduction Type D Oxygen Mask, made by Stephen Silburn of Sefton Clothing Co.
The mask is presented in superb condition, crafted from a fine box-weave barathea fabric that closely replicates the appearance of original examples. It is fitted with a precisely modelled mounting ring, designed to accommodate any authentic microphone intended for use with the Type D Mask. A pair of reproduction face protectors are also included, completing the set. Notably, the protectors have been repositioned slightly inward, creating a tighter seal when the mask is fitted to a helmet. This adjustment is particularly effective, as these masks can otherwise appear somewhat loose when paired with a Type B helmet, resulting in a far more authentic and accurate display.
The chamois lining is excellent and ever so lightly soiled, which again lends to the overall appearance being more authentic to a lightly used original.
As far as I am aware Stephen rarely makes these masks any more, and examples like this have become collectors items in their own right. The mask is not to be confused with other, lesser quality iterations selling for ludicrous amounts on well-known auction sites.
A fantastic mask at the fraction of the cost of an original, which would complement any Battle of Britain collection.
