RAF EARLY HARNESSUIT SILK COVERED STOLE (1941 MAE WEST)
SOLD
For sale from my own private collection is this superb, early pattern stole intended for use with the combined pattern suits (harnessuits); but also for the early versions of the 1941 Pattern Mae West.
This early, silk covered stole is in excellent condition. The silk covering has only minor surface wear, whilst the rubber underneath is still perfectly flexible. I have no reason to believe that the stole would not inflate, however I cannot recommend that the buyer does this (as introducing moisture to the internals could catalyse degradation).
The inflation hose is also in great condition, still flexible, and complete with the rubber sheath and inflation mouth-piece.
The stole is also fitted with both the circlip, and the early pattern inflation lever (now extremely hard to find in itself). No CO2 cartridge fitted.
The stole has lovely Air Ministry markings, with inspection stamps ranging from September to October 1940 (so perfect for a Battle of Britain display).
These stoles are very hard to find now, especially with the inflation lever.
Only selling due to a minor upgrade.
